John F. Martin & Sons is a fourth-generation, family-owned company that produces only the finest meat and cheese products. Our traditional favorite products include: smoked bacon, smoked turkey bacon, scrapple, deli cheeses, cream cheese, spiral carved hams, bone in hams, boneless hams, ham slices, deli meats, roast beef, turkey, chicken, kielbasa, and much more!

John F. Martin & Sons: Bringing Family to the Table

Since 1727, the Martin family has called Lancaster County home, establishing a legacy rooted in the Mennonite values of hard work and resilience. During the Great Depression, John F. Martin began farming and selling chicken at Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market, but hardships—including drought and the construction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike—forced him to start over more than once. In 1952, he took over a retiring butcher’s business, a small venture that soon led to a meat stand at a large local farm market. By 1961, John and his five sons officially founded John F. Martin & Sons, expanding steadily with smokehouses, refrigeration, and a growing reputation for quality meats and cheeses.

In the decades that followed, the company continued to grow. In 1973, the shop earned USDA certification, allowing major improvements in processing and curing. By 2007, the third generation took over and focused fully on processing, attaining Organic and SQF Certifications that are still maintained to this day. Following the opening of a modern bacon facility in Womelsdorf in 2014, the fourth generation joined leadership in 2017. Today, John F. Martin & Sons remains anchored in faith, family, and the belief that “a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches” (Proverbs 22:1).
